Prerequisite
This course works in conjunction with the previously run ‘Bookkeeping for Small Business’ course and it would be imperative that participants complete this course or have a strong understanding of bookkeeping principles before undertaking the one-day Bookkeeping using Excel course.
Course Aims & Objectives
The aim of this course is to introduce participants to setting up a simple, straight-forward, user-friendly bookkeeping system for their business using Microsoft Excel.
It will teach participants how to keep proper Books on their computer and demonstrate and practice setting up bookkeeping spreadsheets and using basic Excel formula for greater efficiency. Participants will also be shown how to compile a VAT return and Profit and Loss account by linking to the bookkeeping spreadsheets.
Outline Syllabus
- Start-up and file management – folder set-up and the importance of saving data.
- Spreadsheet set-up for bookkeeping.
- Recording Sales, Purchases, Bank and VAT transactions.
- Excel formula and how to use them for greater efficiency.
- Managing, formatting & linking sheets.
- Page set-up for reporting and printing.
- Protecting sheets with passwords.
