SCREEN START - Start Your Own Business Programme (SYOB) for Film, Television and Animation
If you’re at an early stage of your career in the Film, Television and Animation industry, this new course will be of interest.
Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown and Wicklow Local Enterprise Offices are partnering to deliver a Start Your Own Business Programme specifically designed for those working in Film, Television and Animation. The programme is aimed at anyone considering starting their own business within the screen or content creation industry.
The programme will assist with assessing the viability of your business idea and understanding the essential elements required to start up and run your own business.

Module 7 | Marketing – Building Your Portfolio (with Guest Speaker) |
Module 8 | Finance 3 - Funding Sources and Taxation (with Guest Speaker) |
Module 9 | Sales and Negotiation (with Guest Speaker) |
Module 10 | Maximising Platforms and Technology for Start-ups in the sector |
Delivery
The course will be delivered by The Entrepreneurs Academy.There will also be expert guest speakers from the screen industry in attendance to deliver a number ofsessions, giving their perspective and insights on how to navigate the industry.
This course runs from 6.30pm-9.30pm on ten consecutive Wednesday evenings (5th October – 7th December 2022). The course fee will be €100 which will include two hours of one-to-one mentoringfor each participant over the course of the Programme.
The course will take place online; however, the first and final sessions will take place onsite. The first session will take place in the Lexicon in Dún Laoghaire, and the final session will be held in Rathnew, Co. Wicklow.
The programme is aimed at anyone considering starting their own business within the screen or content creation industry. Applicants must either live, work or have studied in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown or Wicklow.
Places are limited and will be allocated on the basis of information provided in the application form.
