About Export Development Programme:

The Wicklow and Kildare Local Enterprise Offices have partnered with OCO Global to deliver a capability building programme, to LEO client companies, designed to challenge and support you in scaling your export potential.

This programme will provide you with access to experienced mentors and practical support for developing your export plan. It will also provide a forum where ambitious entrepreneurs can share their exporting experiences and challenges, get new perspectives, encourage collaboration and provide an opportunity to focus on growth opportunities in international markets.

Throughout the 2 month programme, you will gain:

  • An understanding of how to explore new markets and the challenges involved in preparing your business for exporting
  • An objective assessment of your business' export readiness and a tailored development plan
  • Clearly defined growth and export objectives
  • Key export and marketing skills to build sustainable capacity to export
  • A fully developed and practical market entry action plan
  • Active engagement with potential buyers
  • Increased understanding of funding options for exporters.

What will the programme involve?

Over 2 months, the programme will deliver to you the following:

  • A detailed export readiness assessment to determine your business' current capabilities and what you need to improve and develop to successfully grow your business through exporting.
  • 6 half-day workshops providing you with key sales and export skills, as well as management training on how to embed these skills within the wider business team.
  • 1-to-1 mentoring delivered over a period of 9 hours, split across 3 sessions, per participant to help you to develop your export plan.
  • 1 day of market research activity per business, delivered to you by the OCO Global research team throughout the programme. This will help you to effectively evaluate markets, create prospective buyer lists, qualify customers and ensure your export plans are implemented in a timely manner.

The ultimate output of this programme will be a detailed, well researched, and actionable "Export Action Plan", which you may also use to underpin application for further public and private funding supports for export growth.

  • Understanding Business Culture in various regions and countries

  • Value and Pricing as a Strategic Sales tool
Module 4 – Routes to Market & Functions of Exporting
  • Deciding on your route to market
  • Documentation for Export – customs, excise and certification
  • Managing financial and logistical risk
Module 5– E-Exporting Sales
  • What is e-selling
  • How to assess your own performance
  • How to build an e-selling improvement plan
  • Learning from others – live case studies
Module 6– The Market Export Plan 
  • Pulling it all together
  • Defining your Market Entry Strategy
  • Communications – Refining your Pitch
  • Developing your Export Action Plan

Suitable for:

This high value and high impact capability building programme is specifically designed for businesses with export growth ambitions - whether they are first time exporters, early-stage exporters or experienced exporters exploring new markets.

Eligible businesses based in Wicklow or Kildare – will be established and trading for more than 18 months, employing at least 3 full time, engaged in manufacturing or providing a tradeable service with potential to trade internationally.

Programme Duration:

8 weeks  – April  &  May 2022

Workshop Dates - 2022:

Session 1 –  Tuesday  12th April   

Session 2 –   Tuesday 19th  April

Session 3  –  Tuesday 26th  April

Session 4  –  Tuesday  10th May

Session 5 –   Week Commencing 16th May - Individual Mentoring Sessions

Session 6 –   Tuesday 24th May

Final Networking Event - 7th June

Workshop Times:

9.30 am to 12.30pm

Venue:

All interactive workshops will be delivered online via Zoom.

Sessions 2 and 4 may be in a live venue, depending on Covid restrictions.

Individual mentor sessions may be held by phone, online or in person, by arrangement with the mentor.

Mentoring Session Times:

9 hours mentoring per company – ( 3 sessions of 3 hours)

Delivered over 2 months, April - May. 

First meetings to be scheduled week commencing 4th April

Subsequent meeting to be scheduled by agreement with participant and mentor.

Market Research:

1 day of market research activity per business,  

 Delivered by OCO Global research team.  

Cost:

Programme participation is significantly subsidised.

The cost is €200 per company.
