Innovation programme for businesses in the Food Sector

This programme is part of the Interreg NICHE project which aims to improve the level of innovation in the food sector in Donegal. The programme will help owners/managers to develop and manage an innovation strategy and implement a formal innovation management process which will have defining objectives & outputs. Participants will be provided with a reference pack and toolkit on how to record and systematically evaluate ideas, how to commercialise their ideas and how to maximise the return for their business. Each participating company will receive mentoring sessions and have the opportunity to benefit from peer learning.

Programme Modules:

  1. Introduction to Innovation - Types of innovation: incremental, line extension, adaption & radical. 4Ps:  Product, Process, Position and Paradigm Innovation
  2. The Innovative Food Organisation - Creating the innovation team and climate for innovation, branding and design innovation
  3. A Strategic approach to Innovation – Strategic planning, mission statement and  SWOT Analysis
  4. Generating Ideasfor Innovation - Tools and techniques for generating new ideas, market research and identifying market gaps  
  5. Linkages and Supports for Innovation - How to identify partners for Innovation projects. Financial management of innovation
  6. Programme Review - External supports and funding for Innovation. How to implement a innovation strategy

Who should attend?

Owners or managers from businesses in the food value chain which haveresponsibilityof innovation management. This includes food producers, processors and businesses in the food service sector.

Date:

Starts on 28th September 2017 and one session a month until February 2018

 

Duration:

6 x one day sessions

Mentoring

4 x 3hr mentoring sessions are included for each participant on the programme.
