Attention Craftspeople - Free studio space and supports for 1 year

The successful applicant will receive a free studio space at the Abbey Business Centre, Kilkenny for one year (covering rent and rates) along with free business mentoring sessions and training.

The aim of this craft bursary is to help the new generation of Irish designers to achieve their potential by offering supports that allow them to produce innovative, creative work often using old traditional skills. The mentoring and training element of the award enables the successful applicant to learn a new skill and/or improve their existing business skills set.

Craft in Ireland is a dynamic and vibrant sector. While characteristically small in scale, it makes a significant contribution of both the national and local economy here in Kilkenny. The sector encompasses a wide range of different skills including fashion, ceramics, glass, woodworking and furniture.

Applicants should be currently working or studying full-time in fashion, ceramics, jewellery, accessories or furniture making. You must also be registered with the Design & Crafts Council of Ireland. There is no set application form; you must submit a one paragraph statement on how the studio would help your business along with two images of your work to Ms. Emer Ferran, Design and Crafts Council. Closing date for applications is 5pm, 31st October 2016.
