Glanway company wins County Enterprise Award for 2018

Presentation of NEA to Eoin Treacy GlanwayA waste processing and recycling production business based in Belview Port has won the County Enterprise Award for 2018.Eoin Treacy of Glanway Ltd based in Beview Port will now represent Local Enterprise Office Kilkenny at the National Enterprise Awards, which celebrates its 20th anniversary on May 24th.

Glanway Ltd operates as an independent waste processing and recycling production facility for waste-derived alternative fuels at Belview port. It has grown rapidly since it commenced operations 3 years ago to become the largest municipal solid waste processing facility in the South East of Ireland.

Judging is taking place in April and Glanway will be competing against 30 other finalists from every local authority area for a share of the €40,000 prize fund. The Mansion House in Dublin is the venue for awards ceremony in May and categories this year include ‘Best Export Business,’ ‘Best Start Up Business’ and ‘Innovation,’ in addition to eight regional awards.

Speaking during Local Enterprise Week, Fiona Deegan with Local Enterprise Office Kilkenny said: “Glanway has already become a success story and the judges were particularly impressed by the business growth and development, their business strategy and success in export markets. As Local Enterprise Offices celebrate twenty years of the National Enterprise Awards in 2018, Kilkenny are proud to be represented by Glanway in this extra special year.”

Among the special guests at the ceremony which took place in conjunction with the County Final of the Student Enterprise Programme were Cathaoirleach Cllr David Fitzgerald, Mayor Michael Doyle, Cllr Maurice Shortall, Cllr John Brennan, Cllr Pat Fitzpatrick, Cllr Andrew McGuinness, Martin Prendiville, Head of Finance, Kilkenny County Council.

The awards were just one of the many highlights of Local Enterprise Week her ein Kilkenny which also included the Kilkenny here in County Final of the Student Enterprise Programme and a Seminar on the topic of GDPR.
