The future looks bright for entrepreneurship in County Kilkenny

The future looks bright for entrepreneurship in County Kilkenny

Local young entrepreneurial talent will be full displayed at the Student Enterprise Awards (SEA) County Final on Wednesday 11th March in the Newpark Hotel. Over 100 enterprising students from secondary schools across County Kilkenny are expected to display their products and services at the County Final.

The SEA programme provides second level students at all levels from first year through to sixth year with the chance to set up and run their own business. The SEA competition begins in September at the start of the academic year and hours of work and dedication are involved before they are selected to represent their school at the County Final event. The SEA is a national initiative organised and promoted by the national network of Local Enterprise Offices culminating in a National Final Event on the 22nd April in Croke Park this year.

This year the local competition has received great publicity from KCLR96fm who officially launch the programme earlier in the year, visited the schools and will hold an outside broadcast at the final in conjunction with the Sue Nunn Programme. The competition certainly demonstrates that there is plenty of entrepreneurial talent in Kilkenny, which will leave the judging panel with the onerous task of winning the eventual winners.
