LEO Meath would like to invite all interested makers, designers & crafters in Meath to attend an open meeting to discuss the formation of a maker’s network in Meath.

Why attend?

LEO Meath would like to facilitate a discussion on the formation of an association/network/collective and gauge interest from people working within this sector.

The benefits to makers, as evidenced by the establishment of over thirteen county-wide networks throughout Ireland (the most recent being Original Kildare) could be significant including:

  • Increased selling opportunities through: (i) group exhibitions; (ii) organised craft fairs; (iii) pop-up shops/pods; and (iv) e-commerce website.

  • Promotion and profiling of craft through dedicated website and social media platforms/pages.

  • Creation of a craft map for open studios/customer craft experiences.

  • Increased purchasing power through group-buying of materials and services, for example, photography, insurance.

  • Provision of bespoke training tailored to meet the needs of craft/creative enterprises.

Meath has 149 registered craft businesses/makers with the Design and Crafts Council Ireland, operating across a range of craft disciplines from basketry to wood working.  However, the actual number of craft and design businesses is believed to be significantly higher, yet no formal association exists for these enterprise.
