SMALL BUSINESSES NEED TO PREPARE FOR BREXIT THREAT

The Enterprise Ireland Brexit Advisory Clinic, supported by the Local Enterprise Office Dublin City, will take place on the 21st June in the Aviva Stadium in Dublin and small businesses are being advised to get their Brexit plans in place as it’s not just the big companies that need to prepare for the 29th March 2019.

The free event is open to all Local Enterprise Office clients from Dublin and surrounding counties.  The aim of the event is to support Irish companies who may be affected by Brexit in taking immediate action to evaluate and address their exposure.

As part of the event there will be a specific session on the various supports that are available to small businesses through their Local Enterprise Office and Enterprise Ireland that will help mitigate some of the risks of Brexit, but also assist businesses to take advantage of any opportunities.

Greg Swift, Head of Enterprise, Local Enterprise Office Dublin City, said; “This clinic is a significant event for all small businesses to help address one of the biggest businesses challenges of our time.  Many small businesses have not assessed their exposure to Brexit, so this event is the perfect opportunity for them to get up to speed and get help in planning.

“There is no point in Owner Managers sticking their heads in the sand on this topic, as this will affect the majority of small businesses, whether directly or in-directly and it’s vital that businesses have a plan to address their exposure.  This event enables Owner Managers to do that and meet with experts and similar businesses who have already planned their Brexit strategy.  This will give small businesses the practical advice and confidence to ensure they are covered for Brexit.”

The event will focus on five key business areas; financial and currency management, strategic sourcing, customs, transport and logistics, intellectual property and data, and the free movement of people.

It will also offer the opportunity for small businesses to have a one-to-one 40 minute mentoring session with a Brexit expert relevant to their area of their business that can provide specific advice, guidelines and what Brexit specific supports are available to Local Enterprise Office clients.  These mentoring sessions are limited and must be booked in advance of the event
