Mentoring

Through our mentoring/business advice service Local Enterprise Office Offaly provides participating owner-managers with a temporary business advisor to help identify and overcome obstacles that may occur in their business. We have a wide range of experienced business advisors on our ‘mentor panel’ who act as a confidential sounding board by listening, advising and suggesting solutions to problems encountered by owner-managers.

During the course of running a business the owner-manager will at times identify an area where specialist advice is needed. In consultation with Local Enterprise Office Offaly the mentor best suited for the assignment will be selected from our ‘mentor panel’. The mentor then meets with the client and agrees a plan of action.

Areas of involvement would generally include –

  • Production Planning
  • Costing
  • Marketing
  • Distribution
  • Finance
  • Intellectual Property
  • Lean

The mentor’s role is that of an independent advisor. The mentor will encourage you to take appropriate action by contributing informed, independent and knowledgeable advice. By doing this you shall be in a better position to make decisions.

The mentor is precluded from becoming actively involved in the day-to-day management or assuming any executive role in the business.

Your mentor is not a consultant and although he may advise on a course of action it is not his function or role to perform these for you.

The mentor must have your fullest co-operation if the assignment is to succeed. An open and frank relationship is needed.

Throughout the assignment, there is regular contact between the LEO, the mentor and the client to ensure that the objectives of the assignment are being met.

Contact our office on 057 9357480 or email info@leo.offalycoco.ie if you are interested in mentoring.

If approved for mentoring, you will be sent a link to apply for the mentoring and to make the relevant payment online.
