What funding is available from the Local Enterprise Office South Dublin?
There are now three types of funding support available from the Local Enterprise Office South Dublin
Priming Support
Under this support, the Local Enterprise Office may award funding of up to 50% of the owners investment in start up businesses within the first 18 months of trading.The maximum support is €80,000. Eligible costs include capital items,salary costs, rent, utility set up, marketing, consultancy & business specific training. Ineligible costs include vehicles and other mobile assets.
Business Expansion Grant
In the case of businesses in the growth phase after the initial 18 month start up phase, the Local Enterprise Office may award funding of up to 50% of the owners investment. The maximum support is €80,000. Eligible costs include capital items,salary costs, rent, utility set up, marketing, consultancy & business specific training. Ineligible costs include vehicles and other mobile assets. 30% of the Business Expansion Grant is refundable.
Feasibility Study / Innovation Grants
Support for the costs of market research, product development and other kinds of innovation. The overall limit is €10,000 or 50% of expenditure. Feasibility study grants are completely non-refundable

What type of business is eligible for financial support?
To qualify for support, all projects must have the potential to be commercially viable, must employ 10 or less and must be located within South Dublin County. Priority is given to manufacturing and internationally traded service projects in respect of all financial assistance with the exception of Employment Assistance
If I'm not eligible for Local Enterprise Office South Dublin financial support, where can I obtain funding?
Other sources of funding are Enterprise Ireland, Banks, Credit Unions, First Step, your local partnership or community agency. See the Supports and Useful Links sections of our website for more information and contact details.
What area does South Dublin cover?
We support businesses in the geographic area of South County Dublin and include all or parts of the following locations: Tallaght, Clondalkin, Lucan, Rathcoole, Brittas, Rathfarnham, Templeogue, Walkinstown & Palmerstown. For more see the Map section of our site.
How do I register a Business Name?
To register a business name, contact the Companies Registration Office. Their website (http://www.cro.ie) provides information and downloadable forms ( RBN1 / RBN1A / RBN1B) for Business name registration for individuals, partnerships & limited companies. Please note that registering a business name with Companies Registration Office (CRO) should not be confused with registering a limited company with the CRO. The two are unrelated.
How do I register for Tax?
To register for Tax notify the Revenue Commissioners (www.revenue.ie) through your local tax office and inform them that you are establishing a business. You will complete either a form TR1/ TR2 & other depending on the legal struture of your business.
Do I need to register for VAT?
You must register with the Revenue Commissioners for VAT if the amount of your annual turnover ( money recieved) for supplying goods or services exceeds or is likely to exceed the limits set down by Revenue. Certain business activities are excempt from VAT.

Does my business need insurance?
When you commence in business, it is strongly advisable to consider both personal and business insurance. The main ones are: Employers Liability Insurance - coverage against claims from staff; Product Liability Insurance - coverage against loss relating to defective or dangerous products; Fire / Theft - to replace stolen or damaged / destroyed goods; Public Liability - coverage against claims made by the members of the public; Motor Insurance - coverage against motor accidents; Professional Indemnity covers the insured against claims taken by a third party who may have acted on the advice of the insured. You should make sure to get quotations from several sources, preferably from an independent broker as quotations can vary significantly.
Where can I get a premises?
Regretfully at present, the South Dublin LEO does not have its own premises for rent. However premises for start ups / growing businesses are available from local Community organisations Partas, Enterprise Action, CESL Terenure & South Dublin County Council. Campus Enterprise space may also be available from Enterprise Ireland or local 3rd level institute (s). Otherwise contact local auctioneers for private commercial premises.
