Eligibility Criteria

The general conditions for grant support from Waterford Local Enterprise Offices are as follows:

  • The enterprise must not employ more than 10 people; In some cases, depending on certain criteria, businesses with 10 employees or more may be eligible, please contact one of our business advisor for more information on eligibility;
  • The enterprise must be established, registered and operate within the geographic location Waterford City and County;
  • The enterprise must operate in the commercial sphere;
  • The enterprise must demonstrate a market for the product/service;
  • The enterprise must have potential for growth in domestic and/or export markets and also potential for new job creation.

          Within the above criteria, there are certain priorities and restrictions. For example, priority will be given to:

          • enterprises in the manufacturing or internationally traded services sectors which, over time, can develop into strong export entities and graduate to Enterprise Ireland;
          • unique tourism services enterprises that target generating revenue from overseas visitors. These tourism services should not take business from other existing players in the market or give rise to dead-weight (where projects would have proceeded anyway). Such unique tourism services may be offered salary supports.

          With regard to restrictions, retail enterprises, personal services (such as hairdressers, gardeners, creches, and so on), professional services (such as accountants, solicitors) or construction and local building services are not eligible for grant aid.

          Any expenditure incurred, prior to receipt by applicant of the letter of offer from the LEO, will not be eligible for grant support.
