Who we are

Local Enterprise Office Kildare (“LEO”) with service partner Enterprise Ireland are the joint data controllers for personal information collected in the course of delivering our business services to you, our clients. The lawful ground by which we process personal data submitted to us in your business applications, are that we as a local authority perform a task which is necessary and in the public interest. Sometimes though, we will rely on your additional consent for data processing activity like marketing just to be sure that you agree to it.

Our duty to our clients

As a public authority authorized to deliver a public service, LEO recognizes it owes clients a special responsibility to protect the privacy and confidentiality of commercial and personal data. Any data collected by LEO in the course of administration duties will be subject to the highest standards of confidentiality, privacy and data protection. We undertake not to use your personal or commercial information for any purposes other that to which you consented. LEO does not share your information other than for the purposes necessary to process your enquiry. We anonymise our electronic data for security and both our electronic and paper records are stored securely or held on encrypted databases. We also request that all our support services providers apply this standard of privacy, confidentiality and information security when managing your data.

Who we share data with

We sometimes share information with Enterprise Ireland, a public enterprise body or their representatives. The personal information that we share can include necessary personal identification details and may relate to grant applications processing, business funding or public awards. This information may be shared with other statutory authorities for those purposes only. When considering grant applications we use credit assessment tools and checks in order to qualify business for funding.

The way in which we are improving our data management

We aspire to achieving the highest standards of data protection and are working hard towards subscription to an approved Code of Practice for the personal data that we manage on your behalf.

Data retention and accountability

We will hold personal information securely contained within our data systems in accordance with National public authority policy and recommendations. We also require that our data processing agents, and other third party service providers also subscribe to these policies apply standards to protect your data privacy.

Contacting you

We may contact you, from time to time, with a request to manage your data. This contact may be made by a number of communication methods in addition to traditional correspondence. We will use not provide your details to third party marketing companies and will only, with your prior consent make contact with you to confirm training products and services based on a request which you have submitted to us. We retain business records and personal data for a period of seven years in order to satisfy legal audit requirements. During that time your data will be safely secured and protected. We will not use your information for any purposes after the statutory data retention period of seven years has ended and your data will be deleted after the period of seven years has expired.

When we collect private, confidential or personal data

By booking a product or service with LEO or by giving us personal information including confidential or commercially sensitive information (as more particularly described in our Data Protection Policy) you will be explicitly agreeing to us and or our contractors, and the other persons described in this notice to process private, confidential or personal data contained in such information for the appropriate purposes as stated in our policies.

Before you provide us with any business information that contains personal data about others, such as partners, employees or co-directors, you should make sure they are aware of how we will use their information and have agreed to this. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have obtained the permission of any such persons and have shown this notice to them to allow us to process their personal data for the purposes outlined. Your right to access your data
