Technology - the future for retail

This is a pivotal time for the retail industry. The balance of power has shifted, once and for all, away from sellers and toward well informed, mobile, socially-connected consumers. Retailers have had to become much more sophisticated in how they predict demand, manage and move inventory, and integrate their physical, virtual, and mobile selling channels. Purchasing analysis, retail data, on line mobility and social media are all central to developing and keeping customers loyal in 2014.

This is why, following the success of Des Whelan's and Louise Grubb's 'Top Ten Tips business Tips', the Local Enterprise Office is looking forward to welcoming Ronan Mulligan to give his 'Top Ten Tips on technology in retail' this Thursday September 18th.

These 'Top Ten lunches' are a series of networking events on the theme of 'my top ten business tips' delivered by successful local business people and occurring once per month. Each lunch will outline a speakers' views on a specific topic and take place in the Bistro in the Tower Hotel from 12.30pm to 2pm.

There is a considerable pool of business talent and experience in Waterford and the L.E.O. hopes to harness this expertise to inspire Waterford's new and existing business people.

Founded by Jim and Sheila Mulligan in 1957 Mulligans Pharmacy has grown from one small outlet on Georges Street in Waterford to sixteen successful pharmacies throughout the South-East. Mulligan's has always been at the cutting edge of retail development and technology. Ronan, Managing Director of Mulligans, has inherited this drive for advancement. His knowledge of retail technology is sure to make this lunch extremely valuable for anyone in the retail industry.

Future speakers also include John Noonan of Flahavan's in October and Grainne Walsh of Metalman Brewing in November.

The cost of these events is just €8.50, this is for the cost of the lunch alone. Booking is essential. For more information or to register your interest please contact your Local Enterprise Office in Waterford on 051-849905 or email info@leo.waterfordcouncil.ie.
