The aim of this course is to provide the participants with the skills, tools and knowledge to be able to plan and implement their website SEO.

Course Outline

  • How search engines work – a walk through how search engines like Google work. What is Google looking for right now and what is predicted for the future of SEO.
  • The four main components of SEO:
  1. On-page SEO: researching keywords/phrases using a range of free and low-cost online tools. Optimising content including page copy, using headlines effectively, writing meta data, tagging images etc.
  2. Local SEO: optimising their Google My Business Listing and improving their website localisation.
  3. Off-page SEO: understanding how links enhance positioning and the importance of quality links. Strategies on how to increase inbound links for SMEs.
  4. Technical SEO: measuring website speed using a range of free tools and understanding how website speed impacts their search engine performance and conversions.

Using a range of free tools to audit their website SEO and usability including SEO Meta in 1 Click/SEO Minion, Screaming Frog, Google Search Console & Google Analytics.

  • Case studies showing how SME websites are effectively optimising their websites for search engines like Google.

Practical Elements

  • During the course the group will be asked for two volunteers – one to be a service and the other to be an eCommerce site. The volunteers will have their website SEO audited during the programme. This helps the other learners as they are seeing live examples. This is a learning method that has been used by Sandra Hennessy, Be Dynamic for years and has proven to be very popular and successful. All other learners will have the opportunity to ask questions that are specific to their business at any time during the training
  • Hands-on experience using SEO Meta in 1 Click/SEO Minion
  • Completing their website SEO audit and action plan throughout the training

Course Outcomes

  • Understand SEO and how Google ranks websites
  • Know how to increase their website visibility in search engines like Google and know how to drive quality traffic to their website
  • Have completed an SEO checklist & action plan on their website and have the skills, tools and knowledge to be able to implement each action point.
  • Be able to optimise their on-page content for search engines including service pages, category pages, product pages and blog pages.
