Start Your Own Social Enterprise

Programme Overview 

This programme is a collaboration between Wexford Local Enterprise Office and Wexford Local Development. It is designed for aspiring social entrepreneurs who want to create meaningful change through sustainable, impact-driven business models. It is tailored for individuals or teams seeking to develop skills in balancing social purpose with financial viability.

At the start of the programme, we will capture participants' intentions and confidence in starting a social enterprise through a pre-programme survey that explores their motivations, perceived challenges, and self-assessed readiness. At the end, we will track their confidence and readiness through a post-programme evaluation, measuring growth in knowledge, skills, and preparedness, as well as their ability to articulate a clear vision and actionable steps for their social enterprise.

Hybrid delivery: first and last sessions full-day in person & 4 online half-day sessions

Key Learning Outcomes:

  • By the end of the 8-module course, participants will be equipped to:

    • Understand the unique aspects of starting a social enterprise.
    • Map their social enterprise idea on a tailored Lean Model Canvas.
    • Validate their business idea with a dual focus on social impact and market demand.
    • Market and sell products/services to support social outcomes.
    • Understand financial sustainability through traded income and profit reinvestment.
    • Comply with governance, HR, and legal requirements specific to social enterprises.
    • Prepare a business plan integrating financial sustainability and social goals.
