Inspiration and Innovation Shine at National Women’s Enterprise Day 2025
On Thursday, 16 October, over 70 women in business from across Monaghan gathered at The Boot Factory in Mullan Village, Emyvale, to celebrate National Women’s Enterprise Day (NWED) 2025, hosted by the Local Enterprise Office Monaghan.
Pamela Kerr, Head of Enterprise, Monaghan County Council, praised the energy and enthusiasm of the event:

“National Women’s Enterprise Day is more than just a celebration – it’s a catalyst. We saw real connections being made and confidence growing in that room. Events like this are vital in showing what’s possible and providing women with the inspiration and support they need to take the next step in their business journey. We are proud to play our part in helping local entrepreneurs thrive.”

The event, themed ‘Making It Happen’, featured an inspiring keynote address by Laura Dowling, widely known as The Fabulous Pharmacist, who shared her journey from community pharmacist to wellness entrepreneur and online influencer. Laura, with her own unique style, captivated attendees with her honest insights into the challenges and rewards of building a personal brand and business from the ground up.
Reflecting on the day Laura Dowling, Keynote Speaker, said:

“Women in business are strongest when we back each other. Events like National Women’s Enterprise Day give us the chance to connect, share, and cheer each other on. My own journey has taken resilience and drive, and the support of other women has made a huge difference. When we support each other, we all rise.”

Gartlan credited her entrepreneurial roots and the support of the Local Enterprise Office for helping her take bold steps in business.
Tara Gartlan, NWED 2025 Ambassador, added:

“It was a real honour to represent Monaghan as this year’s NWED Ambassador. I’m proud of what I’ve built so far, and I’m excited for what’s ahead. Being able to speak to and connect with so many ambitious and creative women in one space was incredibly energising. I’m grateful for the support Monaghan LEO has provided every step of the way.”
