Date: Tuesday 3rd July 2018
Time: 6.30 pm
Venue: The Market House, Market Street, Monaghan
Theme: Resilience for Women in Business
Being a business owner can be challenging. Business activities and income frequently ebb and flow. Being a woman in business can arguably be especially tough because most women are still largely responsible for the ‘traditional’ roles - mother, carer, nutritionist, cook, ‘operations manager’ of households to name but a few.
We juggle, we plan, we multi-task – often because we’ve no choice!
In a world where everything is moving so quickly, we tend to postpone rest and recovery until the weekend, or we plan to replenish our energy during an annual holiday. But this isn’t enough. Our bodies and minds don’t work that way. We can’t run on fresh air any more than a car can.
What if you could easily prepare a resilience toolkit in advance that would carry you through the challenges of life and work when they arise? What if you had a system of mini-recoveries that replenished your physical and emotional energy constantly throughout your day?
In this talk on Resilience for Women in Business, we will explore what resilience actually is, why it looks different for everyone and the various challenges we face.
Our expert guest speaker, Lisa Nolan – M.D. at Aslan Coaching Limited and active Monaghan Women in Business member - will take us through the Cornerstones and Pillars of a Resilience framework which she has designed and uses in her coaching practice, based on years of experience in nursing, coaching and being a self-employed business owner herself.
Lisa will also introduce us to to micro-resilience - a set of research-based techniques and habits that take seconds to implement, but have immediate results on our energy and focus throughout the day.
This talk is interactive and experiential, and despite the serious topic there is some fun thrown in!
About Lisa
Many of you will have met Lisa, but you may not be aware of the full extent of her experience and expertise. So here’s a brief bio –
Having first qualified as a general nurse and subsequently as a midwife, Lisa has worked in a diverse range of clinical settings including Beaumont Hospital Dublin, street clinics in Calcutta, King Edward IV Hospital and the Royal Marsden Clinic in London, and GP practices in Dublin.
Now a Resilience and Healthcare Leadership Coach and Trainer, Lisa’s coaching practice is underpinned by her nursing background and knowledge of how physical and mental health is woven into every aspect of our personal and working lives. She helps her clients recognise and manage stress, and design and implement meaningful changes that are embedded so that they will last long after the coaching process has ended. She helps people to develop their personal resilience using their own physiology, research-based coaching techniques and evidence from studies in neuroscience. She uses various coaching models, including Micro-Resilience (proven, research-based tools and rejuvenating behaviours that take seconds to implement and lead to immediate results), Co-Active Coaching, Conversational Intelligence, and others.
She is on the Centre for School Leadership’s coaching panel for school leaders and her Leadership Development Coaching Programme for Nurses and Midwives has been accredited for 10 CEUs from the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland. She has a special interest in health literacy and has contributed to nursing and medical journals and blogs on this topic.
Lisa’s event will be followed by refreshments which are include in the €10 registration fee.
