What is it?

This workshop aims to enable craft makers to create professional looking product photographs using various budget levels and teaching them photographic skills and language.

What will be covered?

 

Workshop 1:

Identify skills and equipment level of participants. Identify size of student’s products.

‘Pre-production’

  • Why do they need good product photography?
  • Consistency in appearance of quality on web-stores and promotions.
  • Using the same style of photography within a collection.
  • Various styles and backgrounds create an inconsistent appearance of the craft.
  • Examples of good and bad product photography.
  • Types of product photography
  • Lifestyle, catalogue, detail, story

‘Production’

  • On White Product Photography
  • Using - Natural light, Lamps, Flash
  • Creating a simple light tent / light box using everyday items.
  • Ideally we will have set up in the room/rooms examples of each lighting set up for students to then use with guidance.
  • Students with assistance from workshop facilitator learn how to take various styles of photograph.
Workshop 2:

‘Post-Production’

  • Reviewing previous shoot and any images and issues that cropped up.
  • Downloading / importing images from previous shoot.
  • Photography editing software.
  • Free software
  • White balancing / Colour balancing
  • Cropping
  • Resizing - how to and how to know what size needed
  • Lifting image out - isolating on transparency
  • Saving formats
  • RGB and CMYK
  • Re-shoots for those requiring.
  • Advice - is it suitable for purpose? How to improve.
  • Review of your aims - have you achieved your aims?
  • Fine tuning of individuals needs.
  • If time permits uploading to sites.

Craftspeople whose businesses are located in County Monaghan.
