Garrett Mallon Design House, Carlingford
Followed by networking and refreshments
As part of the Create & Grow Programme 2026, Louth Local Enterprise Office invites artists, makers and craftspeople to a special studio visit and artist talk with renowned goldsmith Garrett Mallon.
This unique event offers participants the opportunity to step inside Garrett's purpose-built workshop and gallery space, gaining valuable insights into the realities of building and sustaining a successful creative business. Garrett will share his personal journey, discussing the rewards and challenges of running a craft studio, retail outlet and jewellery school, as well as the lessons he has learned throughout his career.
An award-winning goldsmith trained in Dublin and London, Garrett has been creating distinctive contemporary jewellery for more than 30 years. Combining traditional craftsmanship with his signature use of metals and textures, he has built an international reputation for excellence, with his work attracting collectors across Ireland and around the world.
In 2014, Garrett established Garrett Mallon Design House (formerly Carlingford Design House), creating a dedicated space to celebrate and promote Irish craft. Today, the gallery showcases work from over 100 designer-makers from across the island of Ireland, united by a commitment to authentic Irish-made craft. Garrett has also designed commissioned pieces for Áras an Uachtaráin and numerous private clients.
Following the studio visit and talk, participants will gather for an informal discussion and networking session, providing an opportunity to connect with fellow creatives, exchange experiences and build valuable relationships within the sector.
This event is ideal for artists, makers and craftspeople looking to grow their creative practice, gain practical business insights and learn from one of Ireland's leading craft entrepreneurs.
