Local Enterprise Week 2026 got off to an inspiring start this morning Monday, 2nd March, with the Advancing Manufacturing & Engineering through Collaboration Business Breakfast at the Four Seasons Hotel Monaghan.
The event brought together business leaders, industry experts and key stakeholders from across the region to explore how collaboration and innovation can further strengthen Monaghan’s growing reputation as a hub for advanced manufacturing and engineering excellence.
The week was officially opened by An Cathaoirleach PJ O'Hanlon of Monaghan County Council, alongside Chief Executive Robert Burns.
Attendees also heard from an expert panel of speakers who shared valuable industry insights and practical experiences, including Sam Moffett of Moffett Automation, who spoke about his own business journey; Angela Duffy of Resolve Partners, who provided an update on the launch of a new feasibility study for the sector in Monaghan; and John O’Hara of Enterprise Europe Network Ireland, who highlighted opportunities for businesses across Europe.
A particular highlight of the morning was the discussion around export market supports available through the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN), an invaluable resource for engineering and manufacturing businesses seeking to access new markets, develop international partnerships, and scale their operations globally.
The strong turnout and active engagement from the many local businesses in attendance underscored the sector’s ambition and collaborative spirit. Their contributions and insights played a key role in making the event a success.
The breakfast event set a positive and forward-looking tone for the week ahead, and reaffirmed a shared commitment to partnership-driven growth and continued innovation across County Monaghan.
