Foundations of Irish HR: employment law, contracts, documentation, GDPR, equality duties, and employee‑relations processes with practical HR risk guidance.
Learning Outcomes.
This programme delivers a structured introduction to core HR practice across three half‑day sessions. Participants explore the foundations of Irish employment law, statutory contract requirements, and essential HR documentation standards including GDPR‑aligned record keeping. Practical exercises support application of knowledge through reviewing sample contracts and personnel files.
The final session focuses on employee relations, covering disciplinary and grievance procedures, equality and inclusion responsibilities, and HR risk management, including audits and compliance checks.
Optional additional mentoring or an extra half‑day session can deepen understanding for participants with limited prior HR exposure.
By the end of the programme, participants will understand key employer obligations under Irish employment law, be able to identify required elements of employment contracts, and apply good practices in HR documentation and record retention.
They will gain awareness of fair and procedurally compliant employee‑relations processes, recognise legal and behavioural aspects of equality and inclusion, and be able to identify HR risks through structured audit approaches. Participants will also define goals for follow‑up mentoring to support continued development.
