NOTE: In order to participate on Remote Training, you must have access to reliable Wi-Fi, have a microphone & camera on your laptop/tablet. Having both your camera and microphone on facilitates an interactive workshop, thereby enhancing learning and making for a more enjoyable and worthwhile experience.

This six-week (one evening per week) course is suitable for anyone thinking of starting a business or who has recently done so.

Start Your Own Business Course is for individuals to learn & develop the necessary skills and knowledge to start their own business. This course aims to build your confidence, to network you with others on the course & to guide you to sources of further supports for the future.

Content includes:

• Is self-employment right for me – exploring possibilities and expanding your business ideas
• How will I run my business – my legal obligations
• Finance in the start-up stages
• Marketing myself and my business
• Understanding sales & pricing
• Introduction to business planning

• Purpose / aim of this training course is to assist participants in their understanding of self-employment.

  Could a hobby become a successful business idea?

  What issues is your potential business solving, who are you solving it for, and will you get paid (enough) for it?

  Expanding your business ideas with others

  Session 2 – how will I run my business & your legal obligation including tax returns

  Operating / legal structure for your business – which is the correct one for me?

  How to register with Revenue

  Yearly returns to revenue

  The pro & cons of accountant / other doing your books

  Managing your business finances on a day-to-day basis
