This free service is geared towards those who are considering starting their own businesses, those who have recently done so and existing start ups that are moving to the next stage of their development. A business advice and counselling meeting will initially point you in the right direction and help you prioritise the actions you need to implement to make progress.
Local Enterprise Office Mayo provides a panel of experienced, qualified mentors proficient in a range of specialist areas such as:
- Financial management and accounting systems;
- Strategic business development & growth;
- Sales & marketing;
- Growth towards export;

- New product development;
- Website and social media planning.
In addition to the range of mentors on the Local Enterprise Office Mayo panel, we also have access to the extensive range of business advisors on Enterprise Ireland’s mentor panel.
Role of the Mentor
The Mentor Role is to help the owner-manager identify solutions to obstacles arising in the business and Local Enterprise Office Mayo will provide the mentor best suited for the particular brief. The role of the mentor is to listen, advise and provide suggestions to overcome challenges identified by businesses. The service is completely confidential, and the mentor effectively acts as a ‘sounding board’ who can identify courses of action for consideration by the business involved. Whilst the mentor will suggest approaches to solving problems, their role is not to deliver these actions for the business, as they are not a consultant and cannot become involved in running the business in any way. Instead, they offer encouragement, support, suggestions and advice.
If you wish to avail of mentor support, please contact Local Enterprise Office Mayo directly on 094 906 4299 or info@leo.mayococo.ie to discuss your options.
