This workshop is suitable for all self-employed individuals particularly those who are a recent start-up, new business, or SME.

If you are self-employed, you must register with Revenue as a self-employed person and pay tax on any profits generated from your business and on any other income that you may have.

This workshop will provide participants with valuable information if they wish to complete their own tax return.


Brief Overview of the Training Programme:

This half day workshop shows participants how to complete their income tax return (Form 11)


Course Objectives:

  • Who should register for Income Tax Self-Assessment?
  • What is Preliminary Tax?
  • Explanation of what qualifies as a business expense will be provided.
  • The basis of this information will come from Revenue’s guide to self-assessment.
  • General discussion and explanation around this will also be dealt with a Q&A session.
  • Sample Trading Profit & Loss account and Balance Sheet will be provided.
  • Sample of the actual From 11 for a tax return will be provided.
  • How to complete the self-assessment panel on the Form 11 - breakdown of your income, profits and costs for the year and how to transfer these figures from the Trading Profit & Loss account to the Form 11 .

Your trainer will be Padraig Considine:

Padraig Considine established Professional Accounting Solutions in 1993. He had previously worked in the industry as both a Credit Controller and Financial Controller for a period of over fifteen years. When the practice commenced it primarily concentrated on looking after the bookkeeping/taxation requirements of the smaller businesses and the self-employed. The business has since evolved and now offers a full range of accounting services.
