Training Aims

On completion of this programme, the participants will:

  • Have a full understanding of the tendering process
  • Know how they can utilise the tender process to develop their client base and increase revenue
  • Have an increased understanding of the motivations, requirements and methodologies of the tendering company
  • Know how to increase their chances of being short listed and what to do at a shortlisting interview /presentation
  • Be aware of the potential issues and pitfalls in submitting tenders, as well as how to avoid/overcome them

 

Programme Delivery – Donncha Hughes

 

Donncha Hughes, Business Advisor has significant experience with eTenders. He first published tenders on behalf of Limerick Institute of Technology 20 years ago seeking quotes for business training, furniture and other services. He has helped businesses to respond to and win tenders in the intervening period and most recently has provided a service to small business who need to be Contracting Authorities on eTenders to apply for Leader and Just Transition funding.

The workshops is delivered over two half days. 2pm to 5pm on both Thursday 9th and Friday 10th July 2026.

Advance Preparation (optional)

Register for eTenders website and register for email notification of Tenders and perhaps download tender request documents that would be relevant to their business. Enterprise Ireland have published a superb document[1] entitled ‘Guide to Tendering for Public Sector Contracts in Ireland and the United Kingdom’.

The learning approach will focus on the transfer of learning and the practicing of skills to improve the participant’s knowledge and decision making.  This will be achieved through the following methodologies –

Our focus is on enabling participants to make informed decisions. This programme will be very focused on issues and opportunities facing growth focused micro-enterprises utilizing best practice literature and models supported by experience based learning and exercises and discussions.

Group work will provide the participants the opportunity to share their experiences.

Skills Development

The knowledge presented and discussions will facilitate participants to enhance their management skills. A key skill is the power of reflection.
