At the recent Anglo-Celt Cavan Business and Tourism Awards 2015, Breffni Mushrooms were awarded Best in Marketing - a category sponsored by Local Enterprise Office Cavan.

The Kilnaleck company also scooped the Best Overall Business Award 2015.

Approximately 280 people from Cavan's entrepreneurial community attended the gala Awards night in the Slieve Russell Hotel on Friday 6th November.

Receiving his award, owner of Breffni Mushrooms, Mr Eugene Kiernan, paid tribute to his strong workforce of about 330 people. Having grown from humble beginnings back in 1981, this family run business is now Ireland's second largest mushroom supplier and, despite many challenges in the industry, they successfully produce over 500,000 pounds of mushrooms per week and export large amounts of produce to top retailers in the UK.
