Call for expressions of interest for individuals to serve on the Evaluation and Approvals Committees of the following Local Enterprise Offices (LEOs) in Cork:
- LEO Cork North & West
- LEO South Cork
Local Enterprise Offices provide advice, information and support to those starting or growing a business. Located in each Local Authority in Ireland the LEOs offer a wide range of experience, skills and services to help small business thrive in local communities. The provision of direct financial support to a range of innovative start up and young companies looking to grow is one particular aspect of the work of the LEOs. In order to secure funding under this measure business owners must apply through the EVALUATIONS AND APPROVALS COMMITTEE of the LEOs.
Cork County Council is now inviting expressions of interest from persons seeking to be appointed to the Evaluation and Approvals Committee in County Cork as set out above.
In making any appointments to these Committees, the Council will not necessarily be confined to those who make such expressions of interest but will ensure that all of those appointed have the relevant knowledge and expertise to contribute to the Committees.
Prospective members should have:
- Experience of assessing financial proposals and ability to challenge business submissions;
- Broad business experience and a clear ability to empathise with the challenges facing micro enterprises;
Of particular interest is what specific skill sets the candidate would bring in assessing investment proposals. Candidates should indicate, and clearly set out, their experience in two of the following areas through the application which must be completed online and can be found here: Online Application
- Entrepreneurship;
- Banking, Financial or business qualifications;
- Equity and/or Investor readiness expertise;
- International Markets/First time Exporting;
- Sales and/or Marketing;
- Contemporary knowledge/expertise in Technology/ICT sectors.
- Expertise/Knowledge of various markets/sectors;
Candidates will also be asked to express their preference for which LEO Evaluation and Approvals Committee they wish to be considered for.
The Council will acknowledge receipt of all completed expressions of interest which must be completed online at the link provided above and will inform applicants in due course of its decision in relation to the appointments. Members will be appointed for a maximum period of three years and a panel may be formed from the applications received from which vacancies over the next three years may be filled, after which time all expressions of interest will lapse. In the forming of both committees the Council would very much welcome a situation whereby there is gender balance amongst the membership.
