Energy Cost Savings for your Business Seminar held in Mallow

Energy Awareness Mallow 1The seminar, organised by the Southern Waste Region in association with the Local Enterprise Office, was an excellent opportunity for local businesses to learn about simple and cost effective means by which they can lower their energy consumption and bills.

The event featured speakers: Alex Grassick from Cork County Council, the first local authority in Ireland to achieve ISO 50000 on how this status was achieved; Dan Twomey from Waterpower in Kanturk, a local green electricity company providing low cost electricity to commercial customers nationwide; Eimear Cusack from SMILE Resource Exchange, and Phil Walker from Ecomerit Environmental Business Support.

Kevin Curran Head of Enterprise Local Enterprise Office Cork North and West started proceedings commenting that now more than ever, perhaps, it is imperative that businesses look to efficiencies in ways that they might not have traditionally done. Savings from energy conservation can be significant, and events such as this are a great opportunity to explore different avenues of cost savings. He commented: "The Local Enterprise Office Cork North & West is delighted to work with the Southern Region Waste Management Office to deliver today's seminar. There is a natural concern amongst all enterprises about the effects of many external factors, such as Brexit, that are outside of their control. The LEO is available to work with these business owners to look at helping them improve efficiency, develop skill sets and explore new markets.

Regardless of the business environment, these will help to make better, more resilient businesses, and in a stronger position to meet challenges as well as take advantage of opportunities."
