North Cork Business Breakfast

CUTTING COSTS YET CREATING EMPLOYMENT IN MALLOW

The benefits, financial and otherwise, to employers of hiring those on the Live Register will be the focus of a free breakfast meeting in Mallow’s Hibernian Hotel at 7.30am on Wednesday, May 14th next.

A joint venture by Mallow Chamber, the new Cork North and West Local Enterprise Office (formerly North Cork Enterprise Board) and AIB Bank, the meeting will inform employers about the various schemes and incentives to employ long term and recently unemployed people.

One of the keynote speakers representing the Department of Social Protection is Frank Heffernan. "Businesses who hire long term unemployed people will receive financial support under JobsPlus, therefore helping the State to tackle unemployment while at the same time, reducing the cost to the employer".

Chamber President Kevin O’Keeffe says, "One of the main barriers to creating employment is the cost implication for the business and through this breakfast meeting, we want to ensure that businesses in Mallow and the surrounding areas are informed about the various Government schemes which will reduce the cost of taking on additional staff".

Noreen Walsh, branch manager at AIB Mallow said, "AIB is delighted to be working with Mallow Chamber and the Cork North and West Enterprise Office on this event. AIB is a big supporter of businesses in this area and we are keen to play our part in helping businesses grow and develop. We want to encourage people to call into our branch or give us a call if you want to discuss any aspect of your business needs".

Head of Cork North and West Enterprise Office Michael Hanley will have information on the supports available locally through the newly formed LEO network. "There are a wide range of supports out there for employers and this breakfast meeting is the ideal way to find out more", he says. "Once employers are in their premises, every moment is precious. The early start will ensure as many employers as possible can benefit from the wealth of information available.".
