North Cork Network

North Cork Network a great success

On Monday evening in the Hibernian Hotel in Mallow, close on 40 Business Owners braved the unusual winter rain and cold to participate in North Cork Enterprise Boards last formal networking event prior to their amalgamation into Cork County Council next month.

The evening kicked off with a very informative talk by Karl Hyden of “The Family Business Unit” on “6 Top Tips for Family & Business Harmony”. Karl shared some recent research that found that 75% of businesses across Europe are family owned or controlled and up to 60% of all employees work in family controlled businesses. This represents a very significant number of the working population so managing family and business relationships is critical.

Karls’s talk set the stage for the main event of the evening when participants had the opportunity to discuss their business, find new clients and develop business relationships through active formal networking with the other business owners and representatives in the room. The full spectrum of businesses were represented including, Professional Services, Trades people, Bank official and Holistic therapies. The formal part of the evening came to a close at 8:30pm. As a testament to the value that the event provided, many of the participants stayed on for another hour to engage in more informal networking and to follow up on conversations they had previously during the formal session.

The next Business Networking event will be held in the Hibernian Hotel Mallow on the 29th April for Women In Business .
