This workshop will focus on assessing the financial implications of R&D and project appraisal. It will discuss the process of assessing, in a structured way, a project's viability. It will discuss protecting IP, assessing the costs, the costs of buying in product ideas versus growing your own.

Speaker Bio’s

Terry McAdam, RSM

Terry is a partner in RSM’s Management Consultancy practice. He has over twenty years of experience in advising businesses with respect to operational and administrative process improvement and automation. He has led transformational projects, featuring significant ICT and continuous improvement work streams, across five continents. He will discuss the processes required to ensure projects are regularly, and robustly, assessed as a gateway to the optimal allocation of finite resources.  

Julian Caplin, RSM

Julian is one of Ireland’s leading financial advisors, providing corporate finance, business, commercial and financial advice to a wide range of businesses and other entities. He has a record of delivering lead advisory services to mid-tier companies including sale and acquisition mandates and management buyout structures. Julian will share his experiences re project appraisal from a financial perspective and also outline the funding models which may be appropriate to underpin such project activity.

 

Tom Early – Senior Investment Adviser, Banking Relationships, EI

Tom works as a strategic and financial adviser to EI client companies.  He has a strong track record in assisting clients from a wide variety of sectors at various stages in their lifecycle, in the development and implementation of their growth strategy, helping them to identify and secure the most appropriate form of finance necessary to achieve scale. 

Prior to joining Enterprise Ireland, Tom worked for over 9 years across multiple industries including telecoms, banking and consulting.  

Tom is a qualified CIMA Accountant, holds Masters of business from the IMI and a degree in Business studies (specialising in Economics & Finance) from Waterford Institute of Technology.  In addition Tom has completed executive training courses in IMD (Switzerland) and EVCA.
