Students from Charleville Schools Scoop Top Awards

at Christmas Entrepreneurial Showcase in Millstreet

 

Students from two Charleville schools – CBS Charleville and St. Mary’s Secondary School in Charleville walked away with the top prizes of Best Overall Company at the North Cork Local Enterprise Office Christmas Trade Fair in Millstreet last Tuesday 16th December.

Over 400 students from second level schools all over North Cork took part in the event, which took place at the Green Glens Arena.

A total of 60 mini-companies from second level schools all over Cork from 1st, 2nd and Transition Years set up and put on display products they have produced as part of the Student Enterprise Awards Programme.

 

The first of the winning teams in the Senior Category (Transition Year students) is called Hydrocycling from CBS in Charleville. This team have develop a water saving device for household use. The second winning team from St. Mary’s School in Charleville – Fit4Fun – have developed a fun and innovative exercise dvd for people with special needs.

  • Best Sales Techniques:                      Mindwaves, Mercy School,      Kanturk

Scrunch It Up, Loreto School, Fermoy

  • Best Team Spirit:                              Wood 2 Wonder, CBS      Mitchelstown

Sinsational, Boherbue Comprehensive School

 

 

In the Junior category, students from St. Mary’s School in Charleville were awarded first place and in the Intermediate category, Patrician Academy from Mallow took away the winners prize on the day.

 

The next leg of the North Cork Local Enterprise Office Schools Programme Competition takes place in March 2015 – the Regional Finals. One overall company will be chosen as winner to go forward to the National Finals in Croke Park in early April 2015.
