March Networking Event Attracts Great Interest

At Inchydoney Lodge & Spa Hotel, some 85 business owners gathered to network and listen to top tips from RTE’s Dragon’s Den’s Pitch Coach, Catherine Moonan. Businesses ranged from local services, hotels, online businesses, retail and food. Clients came from far and near to attend this much anticipated event.

As part of the West Cork Enterprise Board’s ongoing commitment to the micro-enterprise sector in West Cork, the Board funded and organised the free event. Speaking at the event, Christine Heffernan, Training Co-Ordinator commented: “The turn out here today proves that small businesses want to connect and network. Forums such as today are key to the success of these business and business owners realise that. Catherine is inspiring and has provided us all with invaluable tips when presenting to an audience”.

Catherine Moonan commented: “It was wonderful to meet so many innovative people in West Cork today. They had such passion for business. I really enjoyed working with them on their pitch and I wish them continued success”.

Also in attendance were five students from Castletownbere Community School with their children’s book – “My Little Big Adventure”. They were winners of the West Cork Enterprise Board’s Schools Enterprise Programme 2013/2014 and will represent West Cork at the Student Enterprise Award Finals on 2nd April at Croke Park. The book is an illustrated book which allows children become the author of their own book. The concept is the first of its kind and allows children to unleash their imaginations while allowing parents a window into the wonderful minds of their children.

The Board’s next networking event is a women in business event and will take place at the West Cork Hotel in Skibbereen on the morning of Thursday the 8th of May 2014.
