Free Intellectual Property Rights Seminar

As part of Local Enterprise Week, we will be run this free seminar for small businesses and new business start-ups in West Cork. The Patents Office will deliver this informative seminar to promote awareness of Intellectual Property (IP) rights among the small business community, micro enterprises and small business start-ups.

Often, little or no attention is paid to IP when discussing the setting up of a business and this oversight can lead to possible costly consequences, further down the business development path. Having some knowledge of IP, its potential value, how to apply and defend it can be very important in the context of drafting business plans, marketing products and seeking finance.

  • This one hour presentation will cover all aspects of IP including patents (for inventions, function), trade marks (name, logo, slogans) and designs (appearance, shape & configuration).
  • It will explain how to search free databases to avoid possibly infringing others IP, as well as ensuring you don’t miss opportunities for protection.
  • The different routes available nationally and abroad, will be covered along with approx. costs involved
  • Questions and answers at the end of the presentation

This is ideal if you are thinking of strating a new business or if you are a new business start-up.
