Offaly Innovation & Design Centre CLG is seeking the appointment of an experienced consultant to carry out project management services relating to the engagement with the wider business, research and academic communities for stream BIRR.
Full-time (37.5 hours per week), short term contract (3-4 months), in-person on site in Birr, Co. Offaly
stream BIRR was established in 2020 to provide a connection with I-LOFAR, located in the grounds of Birr Castle. I-LOFAR is the Irish station in the world’s largest radio telescope.
I-LOFAR provides a unique opportunity to access big data in real time and this data can be utilised for training purposes and for proving algorithms for many sectors. Professors and researchers of universities affiliated with the international LOFAR network together with Software Developers and Data Analysts from companies operating within or in cooperation with companies based in the Midland Region have the opportunity to use the stream BIRR – either through regular hot desk usage or through the establishment of a base there.
Offaly Innovation & Design Centre CLG is looking for a Project Manager who will support and develop the synergies between researchers and business in stream BIRR. This Project Manager will actively promote stream BIRR to targeted sectors utilising Big Data including software, telecoms, engineering, animation, astronomy, FinTech, MedTech, and Healthcare, and smart manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have experience in working with national and international educational institutions and stakeholders such as TUS, Trinity College, DIAS, Science Foundation Ireland and Enterprise Ireland to develop and promote collaborative training programmes and events. The appointee will engage with potential industrial partners to build partnership between industrial entities and stream BIRR’s academic cohort. Management of the co-ordination and promotion of training programmes and events in Data Analytics and related topics associated with stream BIRR is also important.
Technology background experience is required; particularly with experience in Data Analytics and one or more of the stream BIRR research areas.
