Are you interested in setting up a part time business while holding down a full-time job.

 

This course is ideal for people looking at ways of making some extra money or converting their hobby into a business.

The course will give practical tips on how to set up and run a part-time business. The seminar will include information on how you can successfully run a business in the evening, financial/legal obligations, what to tell the taxman, how to tell your boss and how to manage your time and resources.

 

Evening No 1:

  • Could your hobby become a successful business and your future career? 
  • Is it OK to work in a PAYE job while starting your own business?
  • Choosing the correct operating structure of a business – which one is right for me?
  • How to register a business name /company with the CRO

Evening no 2: 

  • Exploring start-up costs.
  • Registering with Revenue.
  • How the self-employed/company taxation system works.
  • Understanding and managing business risks.
  • Preparing your accounts on a monthly/yearly basis.  What do you need to know? 

Evening no 3: 

  • Introduction to business planning.
  • Managing your business on a day to day basis – working on the business and in the business.
  • Sources of assistance both government/semi state and private.
  • Taking care of self while running a business. 

Evening no 4: 

  • Apply the following to your business idea – how to… do market research, market yourself and your business.
  • Comprehend the marketing mix.
  • What would marketing ideas for your business look like?

Priority will be given to course participants from County Offaly.
