Food Starter Programme - Remote Training Course

Open to counties Galway/Roscommon/Mayo

4 x Remote Online Training Sessions

Dates: 11th, 18th, 25th of May & 1st of June

Time: 9.30am to 1pm each day

NOTE: In order to participate on Remote Training, you must have access to reliable Wi-Fi, have a microphone & camera on your laptop/tablet. Having both your camera and microphone on facilitates an interactive workshop, thereby enhancing learning and making for a more enjoyable and worthwhile experience.

Aim: This program is to provide participants with the knowledge of what is involved in setting up a food business.

It is aimed at people thinking of starting their own food business or in the early stages of start-up and includes people who are hoping to progress their food hobby into a full time sustainable business.

On successful completion of the program participants should have a sound knowledge of the rudiments of food business start-up, and be in a position to go about their start-up in an effective way. The program will allow them to fully understand the legal requirements and consider the costs associated with setting up a food business.

To include:  

  • Understanding what is artisan food production;
  • Identifying what are the pitfalls associated with starting your own food business;
  • Minimum requirements, e.g., food safety, labelling requirements, insurance, etc.; packaging and branding; how to build your pricing model; supports and assistance available.
