This blended training programme is specifically designed for local tourism providers and will cover social media marketing, content marketing (videos, photos, blogposts, graphics), website SEO, paid advertising, email marketing and more. There will be 3 in person sessions and 3 online sessions as outlined below.


Training is delivered by Barry Murphy of Murphy Marketing, who is also a tourism provider in his own right, at Barry’s Guided Tours. He will pass on over 15 years of experience as a small tourism operator in the West of Ireland.

Aim :

  • To help tourism providers develop their digital marketing skills.
  • To make participants more competent and confident in their digital marketing activity, in order to grow their tourism business.
  • Participants will be given an overview of how to use the main social media platforms for tourism (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok), how to shoot and edit better photos and videos, write appealing blogposts, use Canva for creating attractive graphics, generate testimonials and get the most out of their websites through improved SEO. The roles of influencer marketing across tourism and of email marketing to a dedicated database will also be looked at.

Objectives :

By the end of this programme, participants will be able to:

  • Accurately profile their one or more key target audiences and be clear about what those people are looking for from a tourism provider.
  • Develop their presence on the most appropriate social media platforms, targeted to reach their identified audiences.
  • Carry out actions on each of the social media tools discussed, in order to drive engagement and bookings.
  • Run paid advertisements on Meta (Facebook & Instagram) to defined target markets.
  • Bring their content marketing (imagery, video and blogposts) to the next level.
  • Understand what SEO is and know how to improve the performance of their website in search.
  • Use Canva to create visually attractive graphics.
  • Generate testimonials to give confidence to future guests.
  • Engage with influencers and Fáilte Ireland industry supports.
  • Run appealing email marketing campaigns to their subscribers
