“Brexit – Moving into the new Europe for SMEs”

The Blanchardstown Europe Direct Information Centre in conjunction with Fingal Libraries will host a Conference called “Brexit – Moving into the new Europe for SMEs” on Wednesday 10 May 2017 at 6pm in the Castleknock Hotel and Country Club.  The objective of the conference is to provide a forum for information dissemination and discussion on the possible consequences for the trading activities of SMEs in Europe, after the UK’s withdrawal from the EU. 

Speakers will include:

  • Anne Lanigan - Manager, Brexit Unit, Enterprise Ireland
  • Barry Andrews - Director General, Institute of International and European Affairs,
  • Oisin Geoghegan - Head of Enterprise, Local Enterprise Office Fingal
  • Donal McCarthy - CEO of Commercial Mushroom Producers

This event will provide an opportunity for Small and Medium Enterprises ( SMEs), Chambers of Commerce, Local Enterprise Centres and members of the public to be updated on the current state of Brexit negotiations and how these will affect SMEs in Ireland. They will also be advised of the issues and changes in the relationship between Ireland and the UK that could affect SMEs and how they conduct their business with the UK and strategies will be suggested to best cope with changes to their trading operations.

Speaking about the event Siobhan Walshe, Librarian from The Europe Direct Information Centre said “This conference will provide a forum for SMEs to air and share their concerns in a relation to Brexit  in a productive collaborative manor through working groups and workshops.  The update from guest speakers regarding the Brexit negotiations and likely effects will be very valuable to all attendees”
