Description:

March 8th is International Women’s Day and it is also the final day of Local Enterprise Week in Cavan.   An event is being held by Cavan Women in Business Network to celebrate both.  With a theme "Unlocking potential in you and your business" this breakfast event promises great speakers and useful information to help you unlock your potential and that of your business.

 

Speakers:

Deirdre Murtagh

Deirdre Murtagh, Director, Causey Farm, Agri Tourism Business.

Everybody has heard of Causey Farm, but many don’t know the story of how the Murtagh Family unlocked the potential in their farm in the late 1990’s to grow it into an award winning and very successful Agri Tourism Business

Deirdre Murtagh will tell the story of their business, going from group visits in 1998 to nowadays welcoming thousands of school and tour groups each year as well as running large-scale Halloween and Christmas events.

They have recently bought Rockfield House, just outside Kells, Co. Meath, with a view to providing a whole new set of tourism experiences as well as setting up a support centre for children in foster care and their families.

Deirdre has a background in IT and recently completed an MSc in Tourism Management.

Claire Cunningham

Claire Cunningham, Director, Aura Internet

Claire will speak on Cyber Threats and Prevention:  

  • How to Protect Yourself Online covering:
  • Common cyber threats  
  • Your exposure to cyber threats
  • How to protect yourself & your business
  • The role of AI

Claire Cunningham has been working in the area of online development, training & mentoring since 1997, when she set up Aura Internet. She has developed extensive online skills and knowledge over that time and has always been an advocate of online security and data protection.

She recently completed a Diploma in Legal Studies in Kings Inns and she currently chairs Digital Monaghan, an initiative to promote Digital adoption and is the first female chair of Enterprising Monaghan. 

 Susan Navaro

Susan Navarro, Manager, Cavan Digital Hub

Cavan Digital Hub opened its doors in June 2019. Since then, they have been steadily growing a community of tech entrepreneurs and digitally focused companies. They offer support to companies looking to scale and grow in Cavan. Susan will give an overview of what they offer and will also give any of those attending the Cavan Women in Business Network event a tour of the building at the end of this breakfast event if they would like to see what the Cavan Digital Hub has to offer.

 Tara Humphreys

Tara Humphreys, Business Advisor, Local Enterprise Office Cavan

Local Enterprise Office Cavan is for people who are interested in starting up a new business and for existing businesses who are looking to grow.

Tara will outline some of the services available to the members of Cavan Women in Business Network from LEO Cavan, in particular The Mentor Programme that is designed to match up the knowledge, skills, insights and entrepreneurial capability of experienced business practitioners with small business owner/ managers who need practical and strategic one to one advice and guidance. The mentor contributes independent, informed observation and advice to aid decision making.

Margaret McKeon-Boyle, Managing Director / Founder, Extensive PR

Margaret is the coordinator of Cavan Women in Business Network on behalf of Local Enterprise Office Cavan.  She will be the Master of Ceremonies for this event.
