National Enterprise Awards 2013

The winner of the 2013 National Enterprise Awards was Paul Collins, founder and Managing Director of DesignPro Ltd. Previous winners down through the years have included Irish Yogurts from West Cork, Hot Irishman Irish Coffee from Carlow, Grouse Recording Studios from Westmeath, and Crannagh & Co., and Obelisk Communications both from County Cavan

Brian O’Donoghue, a third generation pharmacist in the long established O’Donoghue’s Pharmacy in Virginia and founder of Virginia Medical Supplies Ltd, was selected as the Overall Winner of the 2013 Cavan County Enterprise Awards. Brian’s expertise and foresight coupled with his innovative and entrepreneurial skills, led to the development of the Nu-Life Monitored Dosage System (MDS). Designed and developed by Brian, Nu-Life is a bespoke system that facilitates the failsafe dispensing of medication by the pharmacist to the patient, whilst also safeguarding the accurate administering of the medication by the patient themselves or their carer. The dual components of the Nu-Life system, the Medicines Management Sheet and the Blister Pack, form an innovative, efficient mechanism for first class patient care.

Other winners were NutriSnax Ltd, a former winner of the Innovation Award. Gillian Treanor, based in Poles, Cavan, took the Innovation Award for 2013 with the creation and launch of her Nutri- Slices and NutriVeg range under the NutriSnax brand. Gillian’s drive and passion for producing a high quality, health conscious product whilst placing the utmost emphasis on the nutritional quality and optimal health benefit, strengthens her market presence year on year. NutriSnax products are available in Supervalu and range of health food stores.

The winner of the Best New Technology Award 2013 went to Boreman Multiplex Systems Ltd. A new company founded by Daragh Boylan in 2012, based in Loughduff, Boreman Multiplex Systems Ltd designs and develops a range of value added automotive lighting products for the truck and trailer market. Having joined his father Eamon Boylan in the family business, Boreman Ltd, in 2005, Daragh, as Managing Director of Boreman Multiplex Systems Ltd is leading the company’s innovative thinking in the development of value added products for their customer base. This led to the identification of an opportunity to research and develop a new electric wiring system for use on truck trailers. The system has been patented in Ireland and the UK with further worldwide patents pending.
