Local Winner featured in 'Ireland's Best Young Entrepreneur' National Final

Success for Local Entrepreneur, Alicia Treanor of Nutri-Snax Ltd, in IBYE 2015 National Final

A young Cavan entrepreneur recently won a place in the national final of the prestigious 'Ireland's Best Young Entrepreneur' competition, for a chance to share a €100,000 investment fund.

Alicia Treanor of Nutri-Snax Ltd., based in Poles, Co. Cavan, represented the region in the Best Established Business category at the national final in Dublin on 6th December 2015. Alicia had already won €20,000 in investment from Local Enterprise Office Cavan by emerging as County winner in her category earlier in October 2015.

Ireland's Best Young Entrepreneur competition is an integral part of the Action Plan for Jobs and is supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation through the 31 Local Enterprise Offices around the country.

Regional Finals hosted by LEO Cavan

At the IBYE Regional final, hosted by LEO Cavan in Cabra Castle Hotel, Kingscourt on 3rd November 2015, three local business owners and new start-ups from County Cavan, all under the age of 30, went head-to-head with nine other County winners from Monaghan, Louth and Meath.

All twelve nominees were interviewed by a three member judging panel and had to deliver a business pitch, live on the day. Assessed on criteria such as business innovation, job creation potential and financial planning, the announcement of the national finalists was made at the reception in Cabra Castle Hotel, attended by special guests Minister for Business and Employment Ged Nash, T.D. and Minister for Skills, Research and Innovation, Damien English T.D.

The three young entrepreneurs who represented Cavan in the regional finals on 3rd November in Cabra Castle Hotel were:

Best Business Idea: Tyrone Do Couto, Real Dynamics

Best Start Up Business: Norman Ormiston, BearRubber

Best Established Business: Alicia Treanor, Nutri-Snax Ltd.
