Speakers
Ann Marie Durkin, Coolamber House, Lismacaffrey, Co. Westmeath
Ann Marie Durkin has a wonderful story to tell.
After qualifying with a BA Economics & Finance from NUI Maynooth, Ann Marie took up a post as a teacher. However, with her entrepreneurial spirit, Ann Marie left teaching and set about starting her first businesses, Shasta & NUMUM, a research and development company of innovative baby products. With her team, Ann Marie invented the world’s first pre-sterilised soother and also developed and patented a portable baby bottle steriliser. As CEO of the company, Ann Marie raised significant capital investment for Shasta & NUMUM which she owned for 12 years before selling the company to pursue another passion, Gardening and plants.
With her husband, Patrick, they purchased the historic Coolamber House, Lismacaffrey, Co. Westmeath, the former residence of Princess Virginia of Saxony and undertook the massive project of restoring the house and Gardens to their former glory. The project also entailed the restoration and design of two adjoining Walled Gardens and Outbuildings
A mother of five children, Ann Marie is combining her passion of gardening and plants, love of business development and teaching in her business – that of offering Gardening and Lifestyle Workshops in the Historic Coolamber House. Learn more about her business at www.coolambergarden.com
