Noele McEvoy was looking for a solution as her daughter was unable to consume dairy, gluten, or processed sugar. Her daughter’s dietary restrictions made growing up quite challenging for her as she often couldn’t eat over at friends’ houses, out at restaurants or at parties. Noele had a desire to create her own natural treats for her daughter which she could enjoy with her friends. Noele realized just how much potential her products possessed when her children's friends and parents began asking for some of these chocolate snacks, and this became the concept for Noele’s business.
Noele founded Supernature in 2019 with her business partners and achieved immediate success in the free-from and alternative snack market. Noele’s business partners have over 30 years' experience working in confectionery and the unique combination of their individual experience, skills and passion would become a key factor to their success in entering the health food market.
From starting out as a kitchen hobby to being introduced into national supermarkets such as as Tesco, Dunne's, Supervalu, Centra, and Spar, Supernature has expanded rapidly. Supernature’s natural ingredients, simple recipes and lack of additives in their products have made their brand extremely attractive to both consumers and retailers alike with being shortlisted for the Food & Wine Emerging Producer award, and winning the Innovation Award at the Bord Bia National Organic Awards.
Throughout their business journey, Supernature made use of numerous Local Enterprise Office grants and other support programmes. Supernature was able to attend a trade event in the UK thanks to the Technical Assistance for Micro Exporters (TAME) grant, laying down the groundwork for future expansion in the UK market. Noele, Brendan, and Simon learned how to make their business more sustainable and waste-free thanks to the Green for Micro programme and with the support of their Business Expansion grant, Supernature hopes to expand internationally, gaining a foothold in the European and British markets.
