€1.2M Grants Boost for Small Businesses in Fingal

Fingal Local Enterprise Office (LEO) has announced annual results for 2023 which revealed that the LEO played a pivotal role in facilitating the creation of 178 jobs by supported companies.

The new figures show that the LEO Fingal financially supported 210 small businesses across Fingal, these companies in turn employ 879 people. Over the course of 2023, LEO Fingal approved €1,238,800 in funding for eligible small enterprises.

This comes as members of Fingal’s business community were out in force today to celebrate a prosperous 2023 along with Mayor of Fingal, Cllr Adrian Henchy, AnnMarie Farrelly, Chief Executive of Fingal County Council and the Head of Enterprise at LEO Fingal Oisín Geoghegan. Local business owners who successfully secured funding were honoured with certificates, officially acknowledging the support provided by LEO Fingal to their businesses.

In attendance were representatives from businesses approved for various supports including the Business Priming Grant, Feasibility/Innovation Grant,  Business Expansion Grant, Trading Online Voucher and Export Development Grant, all aimed at stimulating enterprise and job creation.

A diverse range of businesses in the Fingal area, spanning sectors such as food and beverage production, financial services, health and beauty, training and development, healthcare, human resources, craft & design, media and production, green solutions, and more, successfully secured funding in the year 2023.

Speaking at the event, Mayor of Fingal, Cllr Adrian Henchy said “Small businesses play a key role in our community, driving economic growth and creating jobs. The Local Enterprise Office plays a crucial role in nurturing their talents and providing the necessary support for success. The Local Enterprise Office has consistently been a guiding force for our local business community”.

AnnMarie Farrelly, Chief Executive of Fingal County Council said: “Congratulations to Fingal's entrepreneurs who have displayed strong determination and achieved success in expanding their businesses in 2023. The sustained support provided by the Local Enterprise Office has been creating and maintaining a prospering community of small businesses in Fingal.”

Oisín Geoghegan, Head of Enterprise at LEO Fingal, added:  "Fingal's small business community has shown strength and resilience in 2023. Despite the challenges local businesses encounter, including rising costs and competitiveness hurdles, promising start ups are continuing to emerge and prosper. It’s encouraging to see a substantial number of businesses actively investing in their future growth.
