2019 a successful year for Fingal Businesswomen

Over 100 Fingal businesswomen learn how to plan for success in 2020 at Christmas business networking event

Over 100 Fingal female entrepreneurs joined the Mayor of Fingal Cllr. Eoghan O’Brien, Chief Executive AnnMarie Farrelly, and the Local Enterprise Office to celebrate the start to the festive season at the annual Fingal Enterprising Women Network (FEWN) Christmas Lunch on today at the Roganstown Hotel and Country Club.

The theme and keynote of the event was: “Work Smarter Not Harder: Skyrocket your Business Success in 2020”. Special guest speaker Breda Stackpool is an International Productivity and Performance Coach who works with women in business to help them make more money in less time. She helped attendees prepare for the coming year with a stimulating interactive session on developing the mindset to move forward with confidence, purpose; and the relevant actions to deliver business success in 2020.

Chief Executive of Fingal County Council, Ms. AnnMarie Farrelly was upbeat in her address to the group: “The Christmas Lunch marks the end of an exceptionally good year for enterprising women in Fingal. We are proud to have hosted the biggest-ever networking event for women in business for National Women’s Enterprise Day in October. As the year closes, we remind all of the female entrepreneurs in Fingal that your Local Authority and your Local Enterprise Office are here to support you in your entrepreneurial endeavours in 2020 and beyond”.

Speaking after the event, Head of Enterprise in Fingal,Oisin Geoghegan reported that 2019 had been an excellent year for female entrepreneurship in Fingal. Commenting on female participation in business training, he highlighted that 59% of the 174 people that completed the Start Your Own Business programme this year are female entrepreneurs. And 62% of 676 participants in management development workshops were women in business. LEO Fingal also welcomed the achievements of businesswomen in its enterprise awards competitions, including Sarah-Jane Brangham of Cult Drinks who flew the flag for Fingal at the National Enterprise Awards; and Ava Gilmartin from Malahide Portmarnock Educate Together who took home first prize in the Junior category of the National Student Enterprise Programme Final, proving that female entrepreneurship is alive and thriving in Fingal!

FEWN is run by the Fingal LEO. It organises networking and learning opportunities for women in business in the region. The network meets up every quarter and provides a platform to female entrepreneurs (and aspiring entrepreneurs), to network, build useful local business contacts and keep up to speed with key issues affecting business.
