Celebrating the Best of Fingal Entrepreneurship at IBYE Breakfast Morning

18 Finalists were chosen to attend the Dublin IBYE Regional Bootcamp; six of which will win a share of a €50,000 investment fund at the Fingal Finals on May 2nd 2019

The search to find Ireland’s Best Young Entrepreneur (IBYE) is advancing to the Fingal Final stage, which will take place on Thursday 2nd May in County Hall, Main Street, Swords; and is being organised by Local Enterprise Office (LEO) Fingal.

IBYE, which has a €2 million investment fund, is run by all 31 LEOs and is supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation and Enterprise Ireland. With an IBYE investment fund of €50,000, Fingal LEO will award up to six investments to three category winners and three runners-up at the county level. Three overall winners will go on to compete at the Dublin region and ultimately National level.

Over 100 Fingal IBYE applicants were invited to the prestigious business networking event “Celebrating Entrepreneurship”, with Mayor of Fingal, Cllr. Anthony Lavin and Chief Executive of Fingal County Council, Paul Reid.

Fingal IBYE Finalists

Cllr. Anthony Lavin, Mayor of Fingal remarked on the day: “The high standard of entries this year is a testament to the quality of young entrepreneurs in the Fingal region. Fingal County Council, through the Local Enterprise Office, will ensure they are given every opportunity for their businesses to flourish”.

Paul Reid,Chief Executive of Fingal County Council further added: “Fingal has the youngest and fastest-growing population in the country. The initiative provides a channel for the next generation of business owner/managers to succeed, thus ensuring job creation and economic prosperity to the region”.

Oisin Geoghegan, Chair of the LEO Network and Head of Enterprise at LEO Fingal concluded: “We see Ireland’s Best Young Entrepreneur as a springboard for ambitious local young entrepreneurs to succeed locally and further afield. They will continue to be supported by LEO Fingal to bring their businesses to their full potential; whether or not they continue further in the completion”.

The eighteen finalists selected from over 100 applications are:

  • Best Idea: Gurusharan Singh Gogna (Plasma Green Tech Ltd.); Graham Brocklebank (Peer); Mark Sweetman (NAVChain); Aisling Durcan (Serena); Kate Whyte (Rooming)
  • Best Start-Up: Gillian Halpin (Jane Darcy - Malahide); Justin Perry (Frequency – Portmarnock); Sarah Richardson (Namaste Wellness - Swords); Evan Darcy (Robotify – Swords); David Hogan (Smartflow - Balbriggan); Ciaran Brennan (Suite B101 - Blanchardstown)
  • Best Established: Gary Redmond (Busterbox - Ballycoolin); Seamus Tighe (Everest Granola Ltd – Dublin 15); Sarah Jane Brangam (Cult Drinks - Donabate); Colm Cleary (Fitness Equipment Ireland - Sutton); Colm Foley (65 hurls - Ballycoolin); Marc Corrigan (MAVRIX - Blanchardstown); Erica Brennan (The Gym Howth - Howth)
