Over 70 SMEs attend information session in Swords on 25th March 2015

The Fingal Local Enterprise Office (LEO) has announced details of a new call for Online Trading Vouchers at the latest half-day seminar in the Carnegie Court Hotel, Swords.  The information seminar, which attracted over 70 potential applicants, gave small businesses an insight as to how they can use E-Commerce and digital marketing to boost sales.

In Ireland, up to 70% of our online spend goes directly to foreign suppliers. The Local Enterprise Office has secured funding from the Department of Communications and Natural Resources to address this imbalance by helping smaller businesses to sell online. A grant of €2,500 is available to small businesses who wish to invest in growing their E-trading capabilities under the voucher scheme.

Speaking at the Information Seminar, Head of Fingal Local Enterprise Office, Oisín Geoghegan, urged any businesses who are serious about selling online to submit an application. “We approved 53 Online Voucher applications in 2014. This has been a huge help to many small businesses in the region. This year, I want to see this increase further.”

Responding to a question as to what would happen if Fingal LEO is over-subscribed with applications for the scheme, the Chief Executive of Fingal County Council, Paul Reid, replied: “I am confident that we will secure the resources that we need to meet the demand from qualifying businesses”. He added: “I would urge as many local businesses as possible to apply, bearing in mind that the majority of Fingal businesses are eligible for the scheme.”
