150 Business Start-Ups in focus at Fingal Enterprise Week

Jobs boost expected to result from Fingal Enterprise Week

The Web Summit may not be held in Dublin again after this year, but Fingal Local Enterprise Office has pledged to ensure continued support for startup business.

On October 5th the biggest ever "Start-Up Day" in Dublin will attract 150 business start-ups, with the aim of creating employment in the Fingal region. As part of the Start-Up Gathering, Fingal Enterprise week, organized by the Local Enterprise Office, will give a major boost to anyone thinking of starting up their own business.

Fingal Start-Up Day takes place next Monday on 5th October and is open to anyone seeking to start up a new business in Fingal.

The goal of the day is to equip those starting a business with expert advice and practical information on how to make their business a success.

Head of Fingal Local Enterprise Office Oisin Geoghegan said of ‘Fingal Start up Day’, "With figures continuously revealing growing numbers of Irish start-ups, this will offer a fantastic opportunity to learn how you can bring your business idea to fruition."

The day will be open to 150 Fingal start up businesses and is aimed at the needs of those in the process of setting up a new business, with expert advice and practical information available to the participants. Successful entrepreneurs to feature including David and Stephen Flynn, who will let us in on how they made The Happy Pear the success it is by sharing their experience of building a business and a brand built on passion, demand and fun!

Fingal Start Up Day on 5th of October is sponsored by Vodafone and the intensive Boot Camp event will enable those starting a new business to establish how to test their business idea, develop a business plan, access finance, bring their business online, exploit digital marketing and E-Commerce, and sell their product or service.

Since the Local Enterprise Offices (LEOs) were established last year as part of the Local Authorities, they have worked in synergy with many organizations in order to achieve real results on the ground, having achieved the creation of over 4,000 jobs during 2015. LEOs have spearheaded a number of key initiatives geared at providing incentives and supports to entrepreneurs. These have included Food Academy, Ireland’s Best Young Entrepreneur, Trading Online Vouchers and a myriad of other Local, Regional and National Supports.

Fingal Enterprise Week is the biggest local Enterprise Week to occur in Ireland this year and aims to stimulate enterprise and job creation in the region.

A variety of dynamic business and startup events are scheduled during the week which takes place between 5th and 9th of October. Several events are already booked out and places are limited at all events. Nominal fees apply as all events are subsidized by the Local Enterprise Office.

Running from October 5th to 9th across venues throughout Fingal, the Fingal Enterprise Week will be the biggest ever local "Enterprise Week" not just in Fingal, but in Ireland. The week promises a programme of events designed to boost business opportunities and deliver opportunities for SMEs and aspiring entrepreneurs to learn from industry experts.

An initiative of the Fingal Local Enterprise Office and supported by Vodafone and Bank of Ireland, over 1,500 local businesses and start-ups will benefit from 30 major business events, workshops, networking opportunities and mentoring clinics. Activities to be held during Fingal Enterprise Weekinclude some great success stories sharing their experience with the next generation of Irish Businesses.
